Dear Friend,

While we have much to rejoice over, which you will see below, we also have to remember that we are in a spiritual battle. Please pray that evil will be overcome and God's Work will not be hindered.

'Finally, let the mighty strength of the Lord make you strong. Put on all the armour that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil's tricks.'
Ephesians 6:10-11

Bible Society Work Halted in Gabon
Thierry, GabonFollowing received from Thierry Mabialia, Exec Secretary of BS in Gabon (pictured).
Please continue to pray for Gabon.
The results of the presidential elections (held on Sun Aug 30th) have sparked off serious tension which has forced the Bible Society to suspend all its programs and activities. In addition to the fear arising from the insecurity our country is experiencing, we are concerned about the loss of income the Bible Society is suffering as a result. We would therefore be very grateful for your prayers for our country and our work at this difficult time. We hope to resume our activities as soon as possible. Many thanks and may God bless you.

Bible: Front page in Peru
Peru PaperWith a presentation of a Bible in the Quechua Cuzco language to President García, the Peruvian Bible Society has succeeded in making the Bible front-page news.
Media of all kinds covered President García's participation in an Evangelical Conference at which the President of the Bible Society presented him with the special Bible. This symbolised God's truth being given to the President for him to spread among his people who speak the language of the Incas. Bishop Bravo presented the Bible, and afterwards said "The President received the Bible in the language of his people and felt honoured to have it. God wants this to mean a new era for the distribution of the Bible in Peru."
Give thanks that the Peruvian Bible Society have been blessed to publish the complete Bible in Quechua Cuzco, Quechua Ayacucho and Aymara. Please pray for the progress of the Bible in Quechua Huallaga due to be published next year. Pray too that the presentation to the President will bring a wider openness to Scriptures within the ethnic groups.
Kenya's Pokot people welcome the Word
Pokot, KenyaAugust 15, 2009: Bible in the Pokot language launched. The Minister for Information and Communication was the chief guest among the crowds. Also represented were United Bible Societies and the Bible Society of Kenya.
The crowd sang and danced to Gospel Singers and choirs, and speaker after speaker shared about the importance of the Bible or their relationship with it. When the Bibles were finally unveiled, the crowd was ecstatic. The joyous event ended with a passionate appealing to the people to accept and read the Bible.  As the event came to an end, the queues of Pokots waiting to buy the Bible were a clear indication of just how grateful they were for its arrival. Some people could be heard saying how happy they were the Bible had come while they were still alive.
Praise God for another language group who now have His Word, please pray that as the excitement of the grand launch fades, that the passion for God & His Word will grow in the hearts of the Pokot people.
